Saturday Seething (part 49 of a 444 part series)

This really isn't a typical Saturday Seething but it's more of a "thinking out loud" exercise.
Can you miss someone you've never known? Can you miss something that hasn't happened?
Today marks 28 years since my dad died and I miss him more than words can express. But, I was thinking about it and is it really possible to miss him even though I was only 6 weeks old when he died? Or do I miss the idea of him? I love to hear stories of him and see how much people loved him- he almost sounds too good to be true, but my grandma is incapable of lying so my dad must have been practically perfect in every way. My favorite story is when he helped borrow a piano from the local church meeting house and played it as they transported it in the back of a truck through the neighborhood. My mom says he was the kind of person who could walk into a party not knowing anyone and by the end of the party he'd be best friends with everyone.
I miss that I don't have any stories of my own to tell of him. Everything that I know about him is second-hand and I miss not having personal experience with him.
So going back to my initial question, in my own feelings I do feel like I miss him therefore I believe you can miss someone you don't know and you can miss something that hasn't happened. It is really odd to think about it but it's been kind of fun too.
