Will You Accept This Rose? Thoughts on The Bachelorette 2010

I think Ali has the best group of guys this show as ever had!! They have traveled to Europe (they keep saying “around the world” but really it was just Europe). Now they get to end the show in Tahiti- so lucky!

I think Ali has been an alright Bachelorette, but Jillian and Trista are still my favorites. Ali giggles when she is nervous and so she giggles after almost every sentence. Plus her hair looks messy all the time which is not a good combo with her long extensions and her clothes aren’t always that flattering (what was that poncho/sweatshirt she wore in Cape Cod?!!!). But enough about her, I want to talk about her men J

I heart Chris!! He always has the best comments in his interviews. He is sweet, handsome and genuine. He is the best bachelor on this show since Ryan Sutter.  The comments on Chris Harrison’s blog repeatedly say that Chris is “too real for reality TV” which I can see. But isn’t that honesty and “realness” the whole reason why we started watching reality TV in the first place?  I loved watching his hometown date with Ali (why can’t that be Alli- ie ME! LOL). They got to walk along the beach and play with his dog then hang out at his house. I thought they were so sweet sitting on the porch and did a little role play about how married life would be. A: “How was your day, dear?” C: “Well the boss yelled at me again. I need a beer.” A: “Oh well I have one in my purse.” Then when he started talking about his mom and how they had pictures of her all over the house- it was really sweet. It was nice to see them keep her memory alive. Having lost a parent, I don’t know what is worse, having constant reminders that they are gone or just moving on in life trying hard not to even think about it. We don’t have pictures of my dad around, they are all hidden up in Cameron’s room. I thought I would cry watching them talk about his mother but I didn’t- I just kept thinking “I have a message I would like to share with you about the Plan of Salvation and Eternal Families”!!

Back to Chris and Ali’s relationship- earlier on in the season, Ali kept thinking about him as a friend but then things changed in Portugal- I think that is awesome. She knew a lot about his family and stories from his life, like a real couple. Whereas with Roberto whom Ali has had an amazing physical connection from the get go, she really doesn’t know that much about him and didn’t really know anything about his family until she met them. I think that could be the problem with this show sometimes, the couples only talk about their “connection” or the “process” and then make-out. They don’t talk about anything real which seemed to be the problem with Jason and Melissa, once the show was over, they didn’t have anything to talk about.

Now to Roberto- I finally see it! The blogs have been saying how “hot” he is and I just couldn’t see past his unibrow which made him always look like he was scowling. But seeing him in Tampa and so excited on the baseball field- I get it. He did look hot in that uniform, I must admit. J She still doesn’t know much about him. When his dad asked Ali about her goals, he mentioned Roberto has big goals too and I am not sure Roberto and Ali have even talked about each others goals.  I think if they had discussed that, his dad’s questions wouldn’t have been so tough.

In conclusion- I am on Team Chris if you couldn’t tell.

Even though 90% of the couples on this show don’t last, people still love it. I think we watch it because we love falling in love. We get emotionally invested in these people and their relationship. We want them to succeed and be happy. We read all about their break-ups because we care and we feel like we were a part of the relationship.
